The long term goal of the Families for Children Program (FCP) Grant Program is the development of sustainable and replicable family-based care models of services for children who would otherwise be institutionalized or on the streets, namely family preservation, foster care, family-type homes and domestic adoption. An integral part of the Program is the HIV component targeted at creation of sustainable models of support for HIV affected children, including increased public awareness and developing enabling environment for vulnerable families. Since June 2005 FCP has been awarding grants of three (3) types: open competition grants, special purpose grants, and quick start partnership grants. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis to eligible state and non-governmental organizations to support implementation of the local action plans developed in the FCP pilot sites during the course of Community Family Care Workshops. Grants are awarded to support family-based care models through direct services, training programs and awareness campaigns. Joint governmental and NGO proposals are encouraged, as one of the main goals of the grant program is the projects’ long-term sustainability. FCP conducts grant writing trainings before each grant competition and provides on-going assistance to applicants on developing their grant proposals. Funding decisions are made by the Grant Committee comprised of independent experts, including representatives of FCP partner ministries and international NGOs. Special Purpose Grants allow the opportunity to conduct grant competitions that address specific needs that contribute to FCP program implementation. They are distributed based on a competition among pre-selected, qualified organizations that have the ability, experiences and proven record in implementing tasks that are consistent with the goals and objectives of the FCP. Special Purpose Grants include, but are not limited to, funding for conducting training, creating informational materials, implementing awareness raising campaigns, organizing conferences and seminars, etc. Quick Start Partnership Grants are unsolicited grants issued on an on-going basis to organizations/institutions with an immediate need for funding and whose project implementation schedule does not coincide with the regular open grants competition timetable. Applicants must provide a minimum of 50% cost share. These grant proposals are evaluated by the FCP internal grant committee. Grant Competitions Winners |
