Families for Children Program Activities Year one program activities of the Families For Children Program (FCP) concentrated on creating foundations for the development of a sustainable and replicable continuum of quality services for children who otherwise would be institutionalized or on the street. Program activities in the second year were focused on implementation of the Local Action Plans developed by the pilot sites, leading to the introduction of model family-based and family-centered services in the area of prevention/family preservation and foster care/adoption. Most of the grant projects supported in the 2nd year were aimed at working directly with vulnerable families and children. A special emphasis was put on family preservation. Integrating services for HIV-affected families and children remained a high program priority. Read more about year two program activities here. Families for Children Program Strategy in the third year remained focused on expanding and strengthening a continuum of integrated family-based and family-centered services in the selected pilot sites. . Read more about year three program activities here. During the fourth year FCP worked in its pilot sites in five oblasts of Ukraine in areas outlined by the Local Coordination Councils. Program’s major activities were aimed at further development of successful family preservation and deinstitutionalization models including trainings for FCP partners and assistance in conducting public awareness campaigns to promote foster care and adoption. During the fifth year FCP is focusing on dissemination of successful practices and their integration into existing network of social and child welfare services for vulnerable children and families. Dissemination of successful and innovative childwelfare practices has become feasible through the network of Regional Training Centers in five regiona of Ukraine and Center for Innovative Technoligies at the State Institute of Family and Youth. Supported by FCP the training centers provide professional development and on-going training opportunities for the cadres in childwelfare sector. |
